The serving temperature has a significant impact on wine
enjoyment. Although, this can be considered personal preference,
too warm red and over chilled whites can hinder the enjoyment
of a fine quality wine. Already chilled white wine does
not need to be submerged in an ice bucket. For example,
in Europe, white wine is not submerged in ice buckets. When
wine is too chilled, you only taste the coldness and not
the wine. This prevents you from allowing your taste buds
to savor the wine and at times, detect the grape content.
Rule of thumb - over chilled wines, mask imperfections
and hinders the quality of the fruit and weakens the aroma
experience. In all cases, always pour wine in clean, residue
free glasses. Proper glasses are also recommended for serving
and enhancing the experience of tasting wine. Plastic and
paper cups are discouraged.
